We have
one of the quad-P6 servers up and running as a CPU server. Accounts have
been set up for about 20 researchers, and several of those are actively
using the machine, mostly working on parallelizing XOOPIC, a plasma simulation
program which is currently run mostly on single-processor Dec Alphas.
One of the PII desktops was sent down to the South Pole for netrino detection data gathering and analysis there, and another is in use in the Physics department for research on multimedia conferencing. The rest of the desktops are awaiting space to install them; in early March, if the room and network is ready, they will be set up as a research cluster primarily for Physics and Astronomy grad students. |
